  5. Every shot is beautiful, but the hummer photo is my favorite! I have a very hard time capturing these birds on camera - your shot is great! Also I love the butterfly and all the grasses.

  6. You've captured the essence of the word beautifully. Hey, that picture after the hummingbird looks like it might be an ode to your days in Texas!

  7. I love that picture of all the red stems, but the butterfly is lit in such a way as to seem like he is framed by the black on his wings. That is gorgeous!

  8. You have certainly captured the essence of illumination (and I didn't even read Cat's comment until afterward!).

  13. Pam @ English Garden-yes the hummingbird photo was fun. It was taken at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens this summer in July. There were at least 6 of them getting a mouthful.
Scott- yes the "Dewey Blue" Panicum is in full splendor.I'm surprised it hasn't fallen over.
Janet- thank you. not all the photos are from my garden. The Queen butterfly photo was taken at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens as well as the hummingbird and cactus garden.
Dona- thanks for started the Word for Wednesday.

  14. Bridget-thank you for stopping by.
Deb-yes the birds are hard to capture. Usually if I see one near I'll go stand were I think they will come. Doesn't always work however. Evenings are usually best.
Cat- the low water cacti garden was taken at the San Antonio Botanical center, along with the hummingbird, queen burrerfly, and the red stemmed plants.

  17. So beautiful!! I love the backlit grasses, too. What is the name of the flower in the first picture? It looks like some type of pea. The cake was delicious! The red carrots were much sweeter than I expected them to be.
