  2. The texture and cool gray foliage of the globe basil is really pretty. I'm drawn to those silvery foliage plants this year...guess I'm trying to visually cool myself down from the furnace we called summer this year!

The light through the wings of the monarch is pretty spectacular too. How in the world do you get them to sit still long enough to get a good capture!?!

  3. You captured "cool and crisp" without having to say a word. But the butterflies...wow!!!!!

  4. Greggo,

Your correct on the Orange Sulphur and Gray Hairstreak. The last photo is a female sulphur, it could be an orange or Clouded Sulphur. Enjoyed the photos.

  17. All your grasses look so pretty. Have you done a blog post on grasses before? I should search through your archives.

I have the "Walker's Low" catmint, too. Shortly after I planted it, I found a neighborhood cat taking a nap in it.

    Happy Bloom Day!

  18. I loved every one of these Greggo - it's those grasses and the vertical interest in each of them. Your garden is a real haven for butterflies too.

  19. I believe your milkweed species is Asclepias curassavica, which is a tropical species. I have grown it for several years but could not find any this year, which is a real shame as I love it. It also comes in a red and orange form.

My Black and Blue is still going strong as well, and in fact seems to be blooming with renewed effort.

  25. Wow, still looking great Greggo. Blues are the best and you surely captured them. Those butterflies are nice to tell you their names like that. (The one in my garden is Bruce-- I overheard him talking.)

  26. Your fall garden is very cool indeed! I love all the blues and silvers! It looks like Mexican (tropical) milkweed. Do you get aphids on yours? Mine are covered with them.

  27. Very pretty- I love how you integrated the butterflies into the photos. We have so many right now- isn't it fun?? The Monarchs have been flying in pairs as of late which is fun to watch. The grasses all look great- love this time of year when the grasses get to show off.
