Only Monarchs have the Blues

Behold even Monarchs get the blues!  Leaving my house on Saturday morning I was blessed by these wonderful flying visitors.  My wife Cindy and I have always been followed by butterflies throughout our marriage.  On our honeymoon, anniversaries, and just common everyday walks and talks.  They always make us smile.
Complementary Colors no doubt

Four monarchs around our Salvia farinacea, Mealy Cup Sage. Cool blues.

  1. What a beautiful plant Salvia is! Monarchs love it, there is no doubt! You might get my share of them, since I didn't see many of them this summer. Very nice pictures!

  2. These particular salvias were all volunteers. The butterflys were attracted by a butterfly bush(Buddelia davidii nanhoensis) and raised on a milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa). Their larva are very impressive.

  3. I just started to grow milkweed. Maybe, it'll help with our butterfly population.
